The machine was purchased from a gentlemen who put an add in the Sandpiper in Ship Bottom, NJ back in 1972. It was under a beach house in Ship Bottom half buried in beach sand. Absolutely nothing turned. The arbor did not turn, the handle would not crank up nor down and everything was covered in rust. My Dad and I used a lot of elbow grease and gradually brought the machine to working condition. We bought 4 legs for it and welded them to angle iron such that it made a cradle for the base. This combined with a locking plug by the motor allowing for removal of the motor from the arm allowed it to be "portable' in three parts. This machine has seen quite a few job-sites. In fact on one site a lumber load was dropped accidentally hitting the arm and busting it. The lumber supplier had it sent for repair in Philadelphia in 1973 and a new arm was installed. We picked it up in some industrial area. The base has just been removed from the machine and a complete restoration is under way.
