I purchased this machine for the included 8 Sorby turning tools and 5 Greenlee chisels. The "chisel set" including the lathe was $140.00. The lathe came with a 1 hp 3450 RPM Craftsman motor. I built the stand and replaced the motor with a smooth running Century 1/2 hp 1725 rpm motor. I also replaced all the wiring and bearings with Nachi bearings from Accurate.
A very smooth running machine. I also noticed the model number is the same as the 10" machines. There is a 1 inch spacer below the headstock and tailstock allowing for a 6+ inch distance from the spindle/drive center to the lathe bed, thus a 12" swing.
