Comments:
This machine has been in my family for five generations. It was probably purchased the Rev. Frederick Dechant and then ultimately inherited by his son William Dechant, a civil engineer from Reading, Pennsylvania. It was in turn used by his artist/architect son, Miles Boyer Dechant, in the 1920s and 1930s to make frames. It was later restored in the 1970s by my father, Don Dechant, a mechanical engineer.

Now the lathe has been removed. The table saw drive rod takes its place. The table saw's table is still swung into the up and out of the way position.

Comments:
The treadle casting was cracked at the letter "i" in Babbitt and had to be carefully welded.
