Comments:
i got the saw through a friend of mine who just closed up a family owned foundry which was in business for 130 yrs.
as i was cleaning the machine i found the words CHICAGO. MACHINERY. / EXCHANGE. CHICAGO. CO. cast into the base. the words had been ground off but there is still enough left to make out what it says.
it has a flat footprint just like the SILVER MFG. CO saw but i don't know if SILVER bought castings from CHICAGO co.
this saw has lots of bolts that are 1/2 x 12 tpi. (yes 12tpi)

i will bring this saw up to date with new guides, tires, bearings, vs motor with link belts, and machined pulleys. plus a new paint job. saw is up and running. i used a vs 3hp 3ph motor going through a phase box on 220single, carter guides and tires.replaced the babbit main shaft bearing with pillow blocks (see last pic). it is so quiet and smooth now.
