This joiner was posted on this site by the PO several months ago. I noticed it was listed for sale in a CL ad and thought it would be a good candidate to restore. After restoring it, as shown in the pictures below, I sold it to another OWWMer who is building his inventory of vintage woodworking machines. It is equipped with an aluminum fence and is mounted on a sheet metal base. It came with a 1/2hp AO Smith motor and stamped steel motor mount, but I was lucky enough to acquire the 1hp WT Driver Line motor shown in the restored pictures. Unfortunately, the large plastic knob and the hand lever for locking the fence were damaged and the locking lever for the fence brace and one of the OEM brass knobs for the front access panel were missing, so substitutions were made for the time being. The base in particular was a bit of a challenge to strip to bare metal on the inside and outside, and since some denting and rust pitting had occurred, some "body work" was also required before painting. I was real happy to find an OEM knife guard for this joiner. Even though it had been broken at the outer pivot pin boss when I bought it, I was able to have it repaired very well at a local shop by a welder who is very good with cast iron. The applicable patent for the guard assembly is 2054518 and is stamped on the badge on the front of the joiner. I see that a copy of this patent is available on this site in case you're interested.
