Here's a Craftsman drill press I purchased via ebay. It came from a fellow who found it in a nearly-defunct New Jersey boat yard he'd acquired. This one is equipped with a ball bearing Dunlap 1/3-hp motor, though the catalog suggests a 1/2-horse powerplant. I believe this to be a 1951 Craftsman "80" or later "Ball Bearing Craftsman Drill Press." The label doesn't identify King-Seeley, so it could be a late 50s/early 60s version. Note the single rod (as opposed to three) feed handle. It appears that this model is less common than the slightly larger, "drills to center of a 15-inch circle" Craftsman drill press. No doubt savvy Sears salesmen could talk customers into spending a few extra bucks for the "man-sized" Craftsman "100." The cheaper/smaller Dunlap motor and Craftsman "80" combo here suggests that the original buyer was on a tight budget but would not settle for a plain bearing Dunlap drill press which was the next model down from the "80." I'm looking for a copy of operating instructions and parts list for the 10323120. Thanks for checking out my old Craftsman which is slated for a complete revitalization. It'll replace the Chinese unit in the background. (See the subsequent Craftsmam 103.23120 entry for photos of this unit after restoration.)
