Comments:
I bought this lathe on Ebay from Oregon. The wooden base was new and not to my liking, so I had just the head, tail, tool rests, motor drive and motor shipped to me. I am setting it up on fir timbers that were recovered from a barn dated 1830. The cast legs are from a Conover Lathe. From looking at the Fay & Egan catalog, it appears that this lathe could either be ordered with or without a cast iron bed and legs. The head is the single end variety, having no faceplate on the left side. I am either going to set this up with a modern variable speed motor, or use the pulley reduction drive which was made by a previous owner and is not origonal. The bearings are in fine shape, with no play at all. Serial # 32776
