Comments:
I bought this machine from another OWWM member earlier this year. It is a former school shop machine, and has the safety tags to prove it- some of them clearly are there as a joke. I replaced the bearings, including the replacement of the lower wheel shaft and its housing with some pillow block bearings as the original was cracked. Other than new bearings and blades, new electrical, and recrowning the lower tire, this saw needed nothing. The motor that came with it was a 1 HP three phase Baldor, which I replaced with a 1 HP Delco Repulsion Induction single phase motor and an Allen Bradley Size 0 starter. I kept the original in case I ever have access to three phase. The new motor seems to have plenty of oomph for this saw. I built a plywood chute to attach dust collection below the table, and it works quite well. From what I can tell from reading threads and catalog literature on these bandsaws, this is the last version Parks put out- its upper arm is fabricated from steel tube, not cast; and it has aluminum wheels.
