The nameplate is stamped with serial number 45631 which puts it in the 1937 vintage. It is serving it's early adult years (that's in Oliver years) in the Department of Architecture at Miami University in Oxford, OH. where it gets very light use by students that use it for milling lumber for assorted furniture projects. Before it came here(April 2001) it sat in an unheated storage shed in Muncie, Indiana for a year. Where a gentleman won it at an auction at a nearby General Motors pattern-makers shop. We bought the machine for the paltry some of $1,100.00. I think we have about $2,000.00 into it by the time you add up the electrical upgrades, motor work and just plain hauling it here (90 miles). I think it had a rough childhood and adolescent life because when it arrived here there was a pretty heavy vibration to the unit and upon disassembly the bearings literally came out in broken pieces. It ran with a slight vibration after replacing the bearings but the vibration got progressively worse over the next two years. So we just got the motor/cutterhead assembly back from being overhauled. We had the Cutterhead/Rotor balanced, bearing housings rebored and sleeved and the electrical stuff cleand up. We are ready to put the beast back together again and take it for a test drive.
