I searched for a pattern lathe for about 6 months, and found this in a large foundry in Texas. It had been mothballed for 20+ years, but was the foundry's primary pattern lathe for over 50 years. It is a 10' long Victor #6, which had a standard swing of 24". Cast iron riser blocks have been added to increase the swing to 35" over the bed.
I took it down to bare metal and put it back together. It came with a Lima 7.5 HP 4-speed geared motor, which I swapped for a 3HP 1750 RPM Century motor and added a VFD. I used a step pulley for added speed reduction, and built a adjustable motor mount using a large handwheel and acme threaded rod. The restore took me about 4 1/2 months.
