"New old" stock. Apparently never used or even assembled, in original box with original paperwork. Purchased from fellow-member of MWTCA at the Dearborn (Michigan) meeting. Complete aside from missing spring. Basically a toy machine with high ambitions, to function as a disc sander, jig saw, sabre saw (a stiffer, shorter blade is provided that does not need to be attached at the top), or power file (substitute a 1/4" file for the blade). Blades are pinned at one end, 4" long measured from the pin. Sanding disk is 2-1/2" dia. I found that I needed to drill and tap a second set-screw hole for the saw tube, opposite the one provided, in order to be able to secure the tube parallel to the blade.

Design patent D-161025, December 1950, inventors Elmer L. Hoffmann and Allen L. Atkins (former assignor to latter).

The box and some of the paperwork indicates that the distributor (?) is Clinton Specialty Products, 2645 N. Paulina St., chicago 14, IL. The saw itself and the accessories order form indicate that the maker (?) is Atkins Industries, Inc., 1751 W. Devon Ave., Chicago 26, IL. Some of the paperwork, as well as the patent, is dated 1950. The model name is apparently the "Allen L. Atkins 3-in-1 jig saw. (Model no. 50)" Comes with one sanding disc, two jig-saw blades, and one 'sabre-saw' blade.
