Interesting machine offered on ebay with end date of Mar 6, 2004. Seller added the following:

This chain mortiser was made by the New Britain Machine Co., New Britain, Conn. USA Serial No. 1508. Patented USA: May 17, 1887 Pat. No. 363123 Plus additional patent dates and international patents. This engine is a 3 HP, 3 phase, 240 volt. Includes the extra chains and bars of various sizes that you can see in the boxes. This chain mortiser is from a custom cabinet making business that is closing out.
