In the late 90s, a friend found this 1/2-hp double insulated WEN grinder in a pile at the local landfill and decided that I really needed it. He said the alternative was to throw out the poor little thing again... It sat in my basement for years until I built a small garage workbench and set it up there for "visual effect." I dared to power it up and discovered that the original owner probably tossed it due to an annoying bearing noise. The body is plastic, making user serviceability rather difficult. No doubt, this unit represents an "economy" version of similarly sized grinders that more discriminating shoppers would get from from SEARS, Montgomery-Ward, and the like. Admittedly, though, this WEN certainly fits the bill for those who only occasionally use a grinder for light duty projects. Anyway, it sure sounds happily busy when switched on!
