I purchased this lathe along with several other older craftsman power tools from an older gentleman in Syracuse. He had gotten the lathe from his father and it has been in storage around 10 or 15 years. All he could tell me about it was he thought it was craftsman since his father had purchased mainly craftsman tools. There is no motor attached to the lathe, and the gentleman I bought it from told me his father had been using it with an old washing machine motor until that had given out, and the lathe went into storage. The belt hooked to the lathe is a craftsman belt, but it looks newer than the lathe. There are no badges on the lathe but there are a few numbers stamped on the lathe. 9JL 1 is stamped on the underside of the bed. 9JL 7 is stamped on the tail stock, and 9JL 15 is stamped on the tool rest.
The lathe measures 36" from the spindle to the end of the bed, and 6" from the bed up to the center of the spindle. The headstock has 4 "gears?" inside which measure 4", 6", 8", and 10".
If I had to guess I'd say it looks like an older craftsman lathe, but honestly I have no clue for sure. A model # would seriously help me out to see if its worth restoring (I paid almost nothing for it) and in tracking down replacement parts.
