A co-op at the company I work for inherited this from his grandfather. It was really kind of a sad b@stard. Rust everywhere, no guards, no blade, no tire on the lower wheel but that didn't stop someone from running a blade anyway.
But, when I tore it down, the roller bearings in the upper wheel were good, just jammed with dried oil or grease, the lower wheel sleeves were tight and showed little to no wear, the sleeves in the motor were the same and the motor ran like a top. Table had some really deep pitting, but not enough to affect cutting on this machine.
One of the most interesting things on this machine was an old link-belt. I preserved this and it runs smooth.
No guards, I could have shopped the bay to find a parted-out machine but what's the fun in that? And there's a certain satisfaction in using the bandsaw to create its own guards.
All in all, this machine is fabulous. My shop isn't big enough to have a 36" monster and this little 10" bandsaw fills my needs. Solid cast-iron and, with new urethane tires, it tracks beautifully.
