Original post 7/5/2012:
I do not own this machine.
It resides outside a working blacksmith shop in Glen Haven Michigan, photographed July 2011.
I could not find any manufacturer's identification on this planer.
8/11/2022 updated information from a historian at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park Service:
Unable to find any manufacturer's markings on this machine.
The planer came out of the sawmill, which was located on Little Glen Lake, near the Dune Climb.
That mill was built c1866 by C.C. Mcarty, later acquired by D.H. Day c1890 and operated until 1923.
There was a narrow gauge rail that ran from the mill to Glen Haven, at first horses pulled carts loaded with cordwood & lumber, then in 1907 Day purchased a locomotive to move the lumber - that was used until it's closure.
