CL metro Detroit find about 6/2010. Mostly complete; missing wheel-guard end-covers. I thought this might be a Craftsman 'Block' Grinder that enjoys a faithful following on some other garage & tool forums. I discovered that this model pre-dates the 'Block' Grinders (prefixes - 397 & 257).
I haven't found any information on the 115 model - pictures, Owner's/Parts Manuals, or any reference material.
New bearings, power cord, start-capacitor, ON/OFF switch, and insulated connectors (removed most soldered on connections).
When I disassembled the grinder, the ON/OFF switch was connected to the power cord's neutral (white) wire.
I wired the power cord's hot (black) wire to the ON/OFF switch instead; and the neutral to the capacitor where the hot had been.
The motor seems to work the same with this change. I am not a motor wiring expert - is this OK?
The eye-shield assemblies were donated to a 3/4 HP CM Block Grinder project.
