Saw this on craigslist with a sort of misleading picture resulting from a sheet metal (certainly OSHA-inspired) guard covering the original belt guard. Somehow managed to be the first caller the second day the ad was up. The drive was about an hour and a half, but the price was right. This is the first machine I've gotten that really benefitted from the help of the forklift that was on site. The guy who was the second caller was there to see if I somehow didn't want it (right) was a real gentleman and very helpful/instrumental in getting it into the back of the Trooper (Thanks, second caller!).
Something of an arc of shame, but I can live with it. The table raising mechanism will need a little work (sigh, my fault, working on it too late into the night and got in a hurry), but should be good as new before long. Good long quill stroke, big ol' table. This is more machine than I will ever need, but why not?
The motor is a 3/4 horse three-phase Walker-Turner motor. Going to have to get a VFD to make that work in my shop. Until then, I'll probably put on an A.O. Smith 3/4 horse I have around. Looking forward to cleaning up this press. And, per the paper sign taped by someone to the belt guard, don't leave that chuck key in the press!
