bought incomplete, missing gearbox and guard, ways badly worn, in 1975 for $200 from a sawmill owner in waynesboro, tn. found motor gearbox and guard in 1981 (see buss 26-8 planer) with some other machinery. happy marriage. remachined ways in a night class at the local vocational school. motor is 3hp 3phase. runs like a top. the large moving mass of the heavy motor, cradle and arm assembly makes for less tendency for self feeding and kickback, although, as with all radial saws, care needs to be taken.
