Hey All,
This was one of last years scores and the second one of these to go through our hands. At the time it was the best condition 66 I had ever seen and certainly the best tooled. It came with an amazing amount of faceplates, and all the original accessories. At the last minute the pattern shop owner found the original Oliver outboard stand and a couple of other things, that was really neat. The shop owner was emotionally attached to this lathe and told us about all the patterns he used to make with it. At times he was close to tears as he was talking, that was sad but he seemed happy to have the lathe going to us and I enjoyed talking with him very much. This is an extremely nice lathe and I could tell just by the condition that someone loved this machine very much.
When we arrived to pick up the lathe the patternmaker had it rigged to an overhead crane and he picked it up and I backed the trailer under it. That was fun but I wish I would have had the presence of mind to capture that image with a camera, but no one thought of it at the time. That was a pretty cool sight to behold; to see that much arn dangling off the ground is something you don't see everyday. We need an overhead crane in our shop, that would be cool.
