I was just browsing CL a couple of weeks ago and came across this which was a 5 hour round trip from me. I knew my PT Cruiser and I wasn't going to make the trip but I really liked the saw so I sent the owner an email and told him how much I liked the saw and if I were closer to him that I would buy it for sure.
I asked a few questions about the saw and as Keith B. so often says : Rule 1 applies here. The PO said he has had the saw about 25 yrs. but no additional info. as of yet. I was pretty sure it was a Duro 15 or 16".
I didn't expect to here from him, BUT, he emailed back and said he had a friend that was in the service and made the trip to Jacksonville Naval Air Station (which is only 7 or 8 miles from me) every week, and for a little gas money he could bring it to me.
We unloaded it in my driveway this morning in the rain.
It's beautiful, even though I haven't got a good look at it because the PO wrapped it in plastic in case of rain.
Now I'll have to take it apart to get it back to my shed (I meant to say shop).
The original paint was good but there was some kind of glue all over the saw that I couldn't get off without ruining the paint so I took it to bare metal and repainted it with Rustoleum charcoal gray. New bearings in the upper and lower shaft, new tires and a new 111" 1/2 4 tpi blade. (Sold- with regret.)
