acquired 1981 from ajax industries, florence, alabama, along with a 20 inch crescent jointer sans fence, and parts of comet and walker turner radial saws for $1000. we sold the crescent for $500 and used the wt parts to fix a wt ras we already had. ajax had acquired this machinery at auction and had never used it, leaving it in the weather for several years. the buss had severely worn lower feed rollers and center table which we remachined along with the pressure bar and grinder ways. we cobbled together a grinder which is shown in the picture. the sectional chip breaker and infeed rollers were redistributed so that the worn parts were paired with less worn sections. the 2 speed feed is powered from the direct drive four knife cutterhead by flat belts and a jackshaft. all four 6" dia feed rollers are powered. the motor came from the factory a 15 hp 550 v. 3 phase. by the time we got it it had been rewound to 220/440 v. the nameplate says type 4, 26-8/ ser #3905.
