Nice old planer offered on ebay. Appears to be in pretty good condition. Seller added the following:
This is an old sawmill planer that runs off a flat belt. I bought it from an old 2 man mill in the mountains of Washington state. The wood base that it's bolted to is actually the floor boards that we cut to get it out of the planer shed. We just left it bolted down and cut the boards so we could lift it out with a boom. It is a Crescent Machine Company Model #218 variable feed planer manufactured between 1910 and 1930. It is an 18" X 6" sawmill type planer. Crescent Machine was located in Leetonia Ohio. The company was purchased by a man named Rockwell in the early 40's. I have had it several years but have never used it. The sawmill I planned to build never materialized, so the planer has just sat around taking up room in my shop. When I got it I cleaned up the bed and greased it, so it's still in good shape. The planer was still being used in the mill operation when I purchased it. They used it for planing the big beams that they were sawing. It appears that everything still works on it and it all seems to be in good shape. This is certainly not a finish planer for a cabinet shop, this planer will continue to give great service in a small old sawmill environment. The shipping weight on this is 1400 pounds.
