I bought this Mortiser at a university auction. The auction was mostly desks and chairs with this one piece of machinery. Only one other person looking at it seemed to know what it was and he was a customer of mine. After lengthy discussions, I told him that if he didn't bid against me, I would sell him an old Yates/American Mortiser for 1/3 what I had to give for this. Bidding started at 100 and I was silent. Bidder asked for 50 and I was silent. I said, "I'll give $10". It was mine. I ended up giving the Yates/American to my friend.

By the time I got the wiring hooked up, my husband had oiled and freed up all the parts. It worked perfect. I love this machine. It's my favorite auction story.
