This machine resides in the Forest Resources Laboratory at Oregon State University. I had some work being done there and took the opportunity to take some pictures. The shop doesn't seem like it gets much use anymore, they have a few nice pieces of equipment including a Buss 26" planer and a Northfield 8" Jointer. I can see this saw through the big windows of the FRL every day on my way to and from work. It has been something to drool over for a long time now. I have been in the shop a few times over the years and never noticed till now the angle quage on the main column that indicates this to be an angle saw. This guage is marked from zero to 45 degrees on one side of the scale and from zero to 12 pitch on the other side. I'm not sure what pitch means, but it must be another measure of angles. I could not tilt the saw because of the watchfull eyes of the shop manager. The serial number located on a badge on the upper arm is 72150, the table is one piece, all spindles are ball bearing. The guards are all cast iron except for the outboard side of the top guard which is a plywood replacement. The direct drive Century motor is a monster (picture number 2) at 7.5 hp and 435 rpm. With a 36" wheel that would make speed to be 4099 fpm. This is a comfortable saw to cut with, it runs smooth and the slower speed makes it unassuming. I'm keeping my eye open for the day that this saw gets surplused and put up for sale.
