Just bought this planer Wed. from the original owner, he used it at home, and then in the set building shop at Loyola Marymount University. It has been in constant use, although not heavy or often. It has the original stand and belt cover. It came with a particle board platen installed over the table for some reason. Everything is working, just a little bit of surface rust on the table rollers (maybe the reason for the particle board). The rust came off with dry fine steel wool in 5 minutes. I haven't checked any alignment, that will be next.
The only "issue" I've come across so far is that the pulleys on the motor shaft and cutter head were adjusted way in so the cutter head pulley was running against the bearing housing!!! The motor pulley was missing the set screw, which had led to the belt rubbing against the steel base. Instead of simply re-alining the pulleys, the owner had cut slits in the steel base and bent it out of the way!! Can't believe how short sighted some people are!! At least the casting isn't very worn!!
