>>HISTORY<<
Grinder purchased from OWWMer Scott Golden at ArnFest 2010.
Motor obtained from Bob Holcombe in the ArnFest 2009 timeframe.
>>MACHINE<<
General Mfg belt driven bench grinder, with 2" pulley.
Motor: Westinghouse Handy Craft 1/3hp, 1725rpm, 6.3A, split phase, bronze bearing, with Western Auto decal.
Portable mounting board idea--Bob Holcombe's Atlas Grinder-Hone.
Motor is configured with a 4" pulley, giving the grinder a speed of 3450rpm.
Grinding wheels are ½" wide. With 1" wide wheels, the owners manual recommends a 3" motor pulley, yielding a speed of ~2600rpm.
The grinder was originally equipped with ¼-20 wing nuts on the guards and tool rests. I could not adequately tighten the wing nuts by hand so I switched to regular hex nuts. The wrench tightened hex nuts provide solid clamping force for both the guards and tool rests.
>>UPDATE-2012<<
This grinder was given to my wife's friend who had a need for a small portable machine.
