This was definitely one of my more costly purchases. This new condition 14"band saw cost me $250 in late summer of 2010. It was 21 years old, but really looks new. It has new tires, the guides are perfect. I really splurged a bit and got a very nice saw. There is more vibration than I would like, but I think the link belt has simply stretched a bt and I will try adjusting that to see if I can correct it. I learned a lot from buying this saw. First, I really wanted a good band saw, and I became impatient and spent more money than I had really wanted to spend in order to get this one. I don't regret it, but several very nice band saws have come up for sale since this one that would have been older, cooler, and initially less expensive, although none of them would have been ready to bring home, plug in and start cutting. The other thing I learned was that this saw was from a guy with an immaculate shop, as opposed to the dingy and dirty garages I had been digging abandoned rusty tools from. The care he took of his shop and home is well reflected in the condition of this saw. He had the original receipt from 1989 when he had purchased it, as well as the manual and all of the paperwork in a little sealed plastic pouch on the side of the base. It originally cost between $700 and $800 back in 1989. It was a pleasure to get this from him. He also heled load it and gave me a ton of scrap wood to help prop it in my car. I pay much more attention to the condition of the surounding tools and shop now when I go to look at ARN.
