Comments:
When I bought this lathe, I thought it was a early 1960's vintage. But when I looked at comps, I could find nothing on it. Then I found this web page identifying it as a 1933, one of the first? Craftsman lathes: http://www.lathes.co.uk/craftsmanwood/page2.html. It runs well and was obviously well cared for. The head shaft and bearings were replaced at some point. I know this because the old shaft was in the cabinet. Looks as if someone over drove the taper and cracked it. The previous owner's grandfather had the lathe and was apparently familiar with machinery. The new shaft was most likely machined from stock.

(Admin-24Feb2011: added true manufacturer & revised specs. Note: this lathe is the same as the Herberts Wood Wizard 412-H.)
