1941 Delta Heavy Duty Shaper Serial #13-715 With a Black Switch Plate and Serial # Plate on the edge of the table. That shaper, No. 43-205 / No. 1340, appears in the industrial catalog #8 dated 15 Feb 1941. It is not featured in the 1940 catalog.
This machine predates Rockwell's ownership of Delta, as can be observed by the switch plate and from the year. This machine was manufactored in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1941 as were serial #s that start with "13-".
In 1941, the machines did not have a model plate above the switch. In fact, the model number did not appear on the machine at all. There only was one basic model in 1941, with the only variations being the motor phase and H.P. My machine has louvered doors, a steel plate at the base (typically of Delta/Rockwell shapers), and continous cast foot.
It was converted to 3-Phase at one time and the cabinet has some extra holes in it for the magneto box, and 3-phase cabling.
This machine has one of the earlier tags measured approximately 1/2" X 3" with rivet holes approximately 2 3/4" on center. To the best of my knowledge these were only used during the late 30's to the early 40's.
