This machine has lots of potential uses. One advantage is it's ability to use any type of blade, even broken blades or pieces of hack saw blade. Files can also be mounted. Since it is fairly lightweight, I tried to find a stand and motor with enough mass to keep it from tipping or sliding during use.The table will tilt 5 degrees left or 50 degrees right. Since the motor was a double shaft I also added a sanding disc. The blade holding chuck can be mounted facing front to back or side to side. The closest paint I could find was Kennedy tool box gray wrinkle but working with wrinkle paint during the winter months is difficult. The oil wanted to leak out of the gear case, so I added an o-ring to the pulley shaft. The motor is a ball bearing,1/3 hp 1725 rpm marked Kasson - General Die and Stamping Corp. New York. The motor is also a fine piece of equipment. It's extra heavy and coasts a long time after the power is shut off. To ad attachments to the extra shaft I used a 5/8-11 threaded adapter so anything that works on a right angle grinder will work. If you have one of these machines, CHECK THE OIL! They will seep oil constantly while they run.
(Admin note: the mechanism and table are virtually identical to the early 14" and 18" Sprunger jig saws.)
