This is a Artisan Bench Lathe made by Rocky Mountain Steel Products Inc. of Los Angeles, CA. It has a throw of 11” and a working length of 16”. I picked it up along with some other old tools at a yard sale in early 2009. It is a good sturdy lathe with a compact footprint. The through hole is 1 7/16. The best thing is that it is complete which is good for a very rare machine. Under the dirt and dried grease it is in really good condition. Most of the crud in the pictures is actually dirt not rust. There are a few others examples of Artisan lathes here (http://www.lathes.co.uk/artisan/) but I think this one is from later after the company was acquired by Rocky Mountain Steel. I have searched the net and have not found much information on either company. I am very plaesed with the results now that it has been rebuilt.
