Oliver 34-DSD disk and spindle sander. This machine came from a patternmakers shop in Eastern North Carolina. The motor is 5 hp, 3ph, 480v, 1200 RPM. The disk is 30". The spindle oscillates at 50 strokes per minute with a 1 1/8" stroke. The top of the spindle has a #3 Morse Taper hole to receive detachable adaptors. The standard adaptor that came with these machines was a 1" diameter steel spindle which accepts a 9" long sleeve or drum. The sanding sleeve fits over the adaptor alone, or over expandable rubber drums of 1 ½", 2", 3", 4", or 6" external diameter with a 1" internal diameter. This machine had a ¾" adaptor as bought. Both disk and spindle run off of the same double shaft motor. A hand lever below the spindle table disengages the spindle drive mechanism. Both tables tilt to 45 degrees and 10 degrees, away from and toward the sanding surface. The table inserts for the various size drums are missing, as are the drums. Other than this, and the non-standard spindle adaptor, the machine is complete and in good condition. I paid $750 locally. I plan to make the table inserts and am looking for drums to fit the 3/4 spindle adaptor.
