Comments:
Purchased this 6" x 48" Belt Sander used from a man who received it from is father-in-law. It is in great shape and with the original paint; very little surface rust on the table. It included an original stand, 1/2 HP Craftsman Motor, and the original miter gauge [and a 60 grit belt that looked like 320 grit]. It is however missing the 9" disc sander, but that is still available from Sears parts.
I moved the motor to a new location as it was originally installed on the top shelf using a 60" V-belt which was slightly top heavy; I moved the motor to a lower position and plan on making a shelf to firmly hold the motor.
The machine appears to have been well oiled and in mechanically good shape. I don't plan on restoring, with the exception of replacing a few worn fibre washers and replacing the one missing oil plug. The platen is in excellent shape with so little wear that most of the paint is still present; I plan on putting a layer of graphite cloth to protect the platen from wear.
