I purchased this machine from the auction of Morse Heavy Chain in Ithaca, NY. There were only 4 machines left in the building from the woodshop (W/T drill press, Fay & Scott Gap Bed Lathe and a very old Fay & Egan planer) and this was one of them. The company was in business for 104 years and I was told that the machines that were in the woodshop were likely purchased new or close to new back in the early 1900's.
The trimmer does have a few minor issues. The left guard is broken, the right guard was replaced by one from a different model, the hold down is missing and the main handle was broken and repaired at some point. It'll all clean up nicely and will make a great addition to my shop. I was hoping to find a ships-wheel Oliver, but this is just as good.
