A very nice Whitney No. 177 Variety Saw. I purchased this machine at an auction in Plymouth, MI. I've lost count, but believe this is my 43rd Whitney table saw. This is a very late saw (1978). The base casting is marked Greensboro, NC. This is only the second 177 I've seen that was badged this way. The motor is a 7.5 HP Louis Allis. The earlier saws had a 5 HP Woods motors. I also noticed that there were changes to the front bearing retaining nut/arbor mount assembly. I almost want to disassemble the motor to see what else has changed. The saw came with a rack & pinion fence, two miter gauges and a stock feeder.
