I've had this nice example of a 24" scroll saw for several years, but rarely use it. The saw has 4 speeds (610, 910, 1,255 and 1,725 cutting strokes/min) and is adjustable by the step pulleys under the cover. Rockwell also made a more deluxe variable speed model of this saw (model 40-311) with a handwheel coming out from the belt cover to adjust stroke speed. It takes 5" blades with blank ends. It has a nice cast table 14" square which tilts 45 right, 45 front and 15 left. It's a well built scroll saw weighing in at 225 pounds. On my saw, I added the traditional hockey pucks under the legs. There is also a little chip blower. If mine originally came with the optional work lamp, it was long gone before I acquired it.
Another member here indicates model #40-211 is for the scroll saw, stand and motor as a package. The saw alone is a Model 1440. The complete unit sold for $179.20 in 1956. Today these machines usually sell for 2-3 times their original cost.
