Comments:
Found a Craigslist, the ad indicated: "Older jig saw on a table/stand". The look was pretty distinctive, so I went to the MS and searched for snowflake bandsaws - found it was a BlueStar saw, and since I would be in the area, I decided I would like to get a mini-snowflake BS.

So I get to the location, and the saw was as pictured; I'll pass it off to the PO not knowing a jigsaw from a bandsaw. In any case, the saw is complete, and actually doesn't work too badly, in spite of it's condition. The wheel guards are cast iron - not aluminum as apparently some were, the wheels and main pulley are spoked cast iron, so it is a pretty heavy machine:
Paint not in too bad of condition, the wheel guards not as nice as the main BS body, but should be able to clean it up pretty easily. Motor is an old AC Delco 1725 1/4 HP.
The 'stand' appears to be from an old steam presser or similar laundry appliance, and rolls quite well. Not sure how to work it into the fold.

Update: 3 June, 2011 - Casting numbers for various parts:
Blade tensioner: 'D8'
Main Body casting: 'D1'
Wheel Guard: 'D19'
Wheel Guard Hinge: 'D20'
Cast Iron Wheels: Both upper and lower have 'U-7'
Lower Blade Guide Casting: 'D6'
