I purchased this from another OWWM'r in Twin Falls, Idaho. This was a two day trip from Seattle and required an overnight in Boise on the return. I met a real nice friend and will always remember the personal tour of his shop. My son and I were off for the weekend to visit WSU (Washington State University) where he goes to college now.
The planer was ready to go from the "get go" and ran just perfect. Just recently I spent 3 hours one afternoon re-aligning the blades with the bed. Afterwards I had a much finer appreciation for the effort involved in this process. My only regrets were that I should have installed the "sharp" blades I had versus keeping the older ones on! I won't do that again.
The planer is equiped with a 5hp baldor motor which drives the blades and a 1/2hp Dayton motor which drives the feed. I wonder why both motors were changed from their original Delta Motors? Both of these are 3-phase motors. The former owner had a custom designed vent hood made for it. It works beautifully.
