This 12" band saw was made and marketed by Backus Machine Company Power Tools of Boyd, Wisconsin. It is listed as having sealed oilite bearings.

Backus appears to be one of the manufacturers of woodworking machines which sprung up after WWII. Backus advertised in the small print ads in the back of Popular Science from late 1947 through 1949. I have not found any reference to Backus after that period. Backus also made a 6" jointer, an 8" tilt top bench mount table saw, and a small spindle shaper.

The band saw was offered for sale via Craigslist in one of the Wisconsin venues, and the photograph was provided by the seller.
