as far as I know it was originally in service at the sculpture metal shop at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and was thrown out, I traded a chevy V8 for it to the guy who scavenged it from the trash.
I got this saw in 2002 and it was mostly in pieces at the time(sorry no before pictures). I tore it down completely and pulled all the bearings, I repainted the saw with Dupont Imron paint(i might rethink that next time)i replaced all the bearings and reassembled it in i think early 2003. I replaced the original 1/2hp (that is in my jointer now) with a 1hp baldor FDL3510M farm duty motor and replaced the electrics with an allen bradly motor starter and an allen braly start stop station and it works like a dream now.
I did drift from originality a bit with this one and added carter guides and the carter quick release blade tensioner. I used the guide kit for the round post saw and custom turned a stainless hex post to fit. The hex guide set uses an inelegant offset rod and they cost more, spent the extra on the stainless.
I love this saw it runs like a top and cuts like a dream!
