>>HISTORY<<
Got a great deal on this jointer from fellow OWWMer Jamie Norwood, at ArnFest 2008. (Thanks Jamie!)
I believe the jointer was previously on a combination stand. No further history.
>>MACHINE<<
Delta Milwaukee Rockwell 6" short bed jointer.
Missing Saturn knob from fence handle. Fence handle and protractor assembly damaged.
Original ND (USA) shielded bearings were dried out. LH side-87502, RH (pulley) side-87503
Installed new IKS (Japan) sealed bearings, from Accurate.
Removed machined surface rust with the razor blade scraping technique.
Cleaned machined surfaces with a maroon Scotchbrite pad on a random orbit sander.
Waxed machined surfaces with Gulf paraffin.
Overall the paint was in decent shape, so I left it as is. I needed a user 6" jointer now.
Repaired fence protractor. Made a lock lever from a 3/8" bolt. Installed a NOS Saturn knob.
Honed knives and adjusted with a dial indicator.
Mounted jointer to a temporary rolling cabinet.
Power supplied by a 1955 Craftsman 115.7534 ¾hp 3450rpm ball bearing capacitor motor.
Machine pulley-2½", motor pulley-3¼", cutter head speed ~4500rpm.
This jointer is very solid and smooth.
