My dad purchased this for me at a tag sale for $20 up on Cape Cod, MA in 1992. It sat in my basement collecting rust until 2000 when I installed a wood floor and used it to countersink the screws for my bullnose stair treads and thresholds and to drill mahogany plugs to cover the screws.

I dragged it out a few weeks ago while I was working with a buddy to fabricate some implements for my garden tractor and landscape trailer. It worked so well and was so solid that I decided to sandblast and repaint it. It was also the first tool restoration I've done, and was glad to have two able assistants in my 6 and 8 year old boys. The only pieces missing were one 1/8" set screw that set the press pulley, and the chrome cone-shaped cap that covers the upper shaft; you can see one posted on Vince Ancona's picture of this same machine.

The motor is a Crafstman 1/2 HP Capacitor Motor, Model 115.6962, Type CR220K21, 1750 RPM.

The chuck is a No. 11N 3/8" SuperChuck, smooth as silk, made by Jacobs Mfg., in Hartford, CT.
