I picked up this grinding/buffing head at an estate sale a few years ago for a dollar. It was (and remains) so covered in grime that I didn't realize it was a WT item until just yesterday when I cleaned it up a bit. I ginned it up to a 1/3 hp 1725 motor, mounted a soft and hard wire wheel to either end of the shaft, and use it to clean a lot of crud and rust from tools, forgings, etc. I will probably use larger diameter wheels after these ones wear out. Even though the two oil cups have cotton or something inside to help retain the (light machine) oil for the shaft, I find that I have to fill them with some regularity. The vertical height from the base to the center of the shaft is 6 inches. A very similar looking item appears on page #9 of the 1932 Driver Line catalog at http://www.owwm.com/pubs/808/371.pdf. It says these sold for 75 cents when new, so I suppose I got a good deal.

The label at the center of the fork is easily missed!
