This steam engine is used to power the lineshaft driven woodworking shop at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture in Tifton, GA. The museum acquired the engine, mounted to a vertical boiler, from a donor in Middle Georgia many years ago. When they began construction on the steam powered woodworking shop at the museum in the early 1990's, they pulled this engine out of the bone yard and restored her to working condition. They actually had to re-contact the donor, who had kept the governor from the engine and had made a lamp with it! Fortunately, the donor gladly turned over the missing part in order to get it running once again.
The boiler that the engine mounted to was in condition way beyond repair. Hurst Boiler Company in Coolege, GA manufactured a reproduction boiler using what remained of the original as a pattern - even using many of the cast iron parts from the original boiler.
The engine is now operational and is used during special events at the museum to power the woodworking shop. It is always a hit with visitors to see the engine running the line shaft!
