This sander was given to me recently. I do already have a balloon sander, a little Sand-Rite, but this is a regular furniture mill machine and a little unusual in that all--I think--of the sanders of this type thus far listed (as of 8/2010) in the OWWM.com archives are motor headed machines whereas this machine is belt driven. Not too shabby a motor, either, as it is a 5 hp 230 volt only.
Very nice brass alloy bearings, finely machined; heavy arbor, poorly maintained on right hand side. Machine has upper casting and lower pipe and flange construction. It seems possible that this machine may have been originally designed for different use than at present.
Anthe Machine Works (Covington, Kentucky) is still in business as of this writing, producing and selling woodworking bits and cutters.
