I had wanted a large production cabinet saw for many years. After finally realizing that I could not afford what I was looking for I turned to Craigslist and searched for cabinet saws. Looking at a few and wanting to learn more about them I stumbled upon OWWM, and the journey began. I never thought I would want an old, gnarley, rusty, beat up piece of cast iron until I met you folks. Now I am passionate about them. Passionate about the arn, not you folks. Though I owe a great amount of respect and gratitude to you all.
I found this table saw for $75. It appeared to be complete less the motor. I snatched it up before anyone else could get their paws on it. Two days later I found a Baldor Industrial 5HP, Single phase, 220 Volt motor for $120. Unbelievable luck for a beginner.
The restoration is under way and I will post photos as I complete saw.
The Gentleman I purchased it from had the same ambition as I do to restore it, though it did not happen for him. He got it from a millwork shop in Rochester NY and was told it was purchased new for that shop, which is long gone. There was a tremendous 3 phase motor on it that he left behind... I'll keep you all posted.
Thanks for turning me on to this mass of arn and steel.
