Acquired recently on CL along with a craftsman stand and 3/4hp motor.
I erroneously marked this as a 471 Bench saw, but Rich McGowen provided me with much greater detail on the saw's origins as noted below. The 1939 catalog on page 5 has a part number of 99PM2233 for the saw without a motor. While there are decals branding it as Craftsman, there is no model number badges to be found.
Thanks to Rich for the detals.

Brian,
Regarding you recent post on OWWM.com, the saw you listed is not a model 471. You can see the difference in the tilt mechanism in the model 471 shown here:
http://www.owwm.com/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=644
Also difference can be seen in more detail in manual here:
http://www.owwm.com/pubs/detail.aspx?id=620
You saw shows up on page 4 of the 1936 Craftsman catalog found here:
http://www.owwm.com/pubs/detail.aspx?id=2956
The model 471 is on page 3. Unfortunately Sears did not list model numbers in the catalogs so I cannot tell you what model yours is.
For the sake of those who use the site to identify what they have, your changing the model reference would be appreciated.
FWIW, your saw and the 471 were both built for Sears by Walker Turner. Yours looks like it may be unique to Sears as the tilt mechanism appears to be same as W/T used on their 10" saw. But with yours it looks as though that tilt mechanism was fitted to the body of the 8" saw. Not a configuration that appears in the W/T catalogs.
Nice find. The only one so far to show up and be listed.
Thank you,
Rich
Well, after replacing the bearings and doing a minor tuneup, I used it very little prompting me to pass it onto another arn fan with more arn then sense. It has definitely gone to a better home.
Brian
