Huffstetler Lumber co.relocated to another city and sold off their wood working tools..I bought this to go with too planners I have. They had a 42 inch planner.I`m positive they used this sharpener to grind those knives. The table that holds the knives will travel forty-eight inches. The cogs are forty two inches. When it gets to the end of the stroke,it will reverse itself and go in the opposite direction. The operator only needs to advance the knife into the cutting stone. It will power stroke back and foward forty two inches,It can be manual stroked forty eight inches.I bought it for $200 in late sixties.I put on the three HP motor. It was set up for a over-head line-shaft flat belt..
