These photos were in response to a request for info about the size and configuration of the original Millbury hold-down. The hold-down is shown in position in the first photo, but in fact I generally use the de-staco style hold downs also seen in the photo. The clamp down type closest to the cutterhead is usually adequate. Sometimes for small items, in addition it is useful to employ the horizontal thrust style (near leading edge of table)to keep the stock tight to the fence for positive hands off clamping. After years of use, the table has a nice pattern of drilled and tapped holes to position the De-stacos (several sizes) as is convenient and efficient for a particular job or size material. As can be seen in the photo, the original hand clamp geometry does not offer much if any mechanical advantage over what one's personal hand shake grip provides. It is mostly kept on a shelf for posterity's sake. Machine was acquired ca. 1980 from Kerndisco in Rockville, MD. They used to make doors and millwork, but by the late 70's were a distributor only; and much of the machinery had been sold off or moved outdoors to use the shops as warehouse space. I went to pick up a load of fire-code doors, saw the tenoner in the alley, and after a nominal cash transaction with the office clerk, took it along as well. Other than a few bearing replacements, it has been a ratty looking, but reliable workhorse in my shop ever since.
